New Delhi. The Indian cricket team has been announced for the Sri Lanka tour. Many players who have won the T20 World Cup have returned to the team. Suryakumar Yadav has been made the captain of the T20 team. Shubman Gill, who led the team against Zimbabwe, will be the vice-captain. Rohit Sharma will return from the ODI series and will lead the team. Virat Kohli has also been selected for the ODI team.
The Indian team will play 3 ODIs and the same number of T20 matches against Sri Lanka. This is the second tour of the Indian team after winning the T20 World Cup. On the other hand, this will be Gautam Gambhir’s first tour as the coach of Team India. Gautam Gambhir’s influence is visible in the Indian team selected for the Sri Lanka tour. Suryakumar Yadav being made the captain by ignoring Hardik Pandya’s claim is proof of this.
4 players who made their debut in Zimbabwe are out
After winning the T20 World Cup, the Indian team first went on a tour to Zimbabwe. On the Zimbabwe tour, the command of Team India was handed over to Shubman Gill. 5 players from India made their debut in the team that played in Zimbabwe under the captaincy of Gill. These debut players include Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag, Sai Sudarshan, Dhruv Jurel and Tushar Deshpande. Out of these, only one player Riyan Parag has got a place in Team India for the Sri Lanka tour. The remaining 4 players have been dropped from the team.
Shreyas Iyer returns, Jadeja not in the team
Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja’s names are not in the ODI team selected by the selectors. Shreyas Iyer has returned to the team after a long time. Shubman Gill has also been made the vice-captain of the ODI team like in T20. KL Rahul has also returned to the ODI team. KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant have been selected as wicketkeeper-batsmen.
