India’s account opened in Paris Olympics, shooter Manu Bhaker created history by winning bronze medal in 10 meter air pistol

New Delhi. Indian shooter Manu Bhaker created history by winning the bronze medal in the 10 meter air pistol event at the Paris Olympics. She is the first Indian shooter to win a medal at the Olympics. This is India’s first medal in the current Olympic Games. Manu scored a total of 221.7 points in the final. Manu’s performance in the final was as follows:

  • First 5-shot series: 10.6, 10.2, 9.5, 10.5, 9.6, Total: 50.4
  • Second 5-shot series: 10.1, 10.3, 9.6, 9.6, 10.3, Total: 49.9
  • Remaining shots: 10.5, 10.4, 9.8, 9.8, 9.9, 10.2, 10.1, 10.2, 10.1, 10.0, 10.1, 10.3

Manu Bhaker finished third in the qualifying round with a total of 580 points. Her scores in the six series were: 97, 97, 98, 96, 96 and 96. Another Indian shooter Rhythm Sangwan also competed in the women’s 10m air pistol event but finished 15th with 573 points.

This was Manu Bhaker’s second Olympic appearance, having made her debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Unfortunately, she missed out on a medal then due to a malfunction in her pistol during the 10m air pistol qualification. She also missed out on medals in the mixed team 10m pistol and 25m pistol events.

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, 22-year-old Manu Bhaker competed in multiple events, including women’s 10m air pistol, 10m air pistol mixed team and women’s 25m pistol. She is the only athlete from the 21-member Indian shooting team to compete in multiple individual events.
