New Delhi. An emergency meeting of the Cabinet Security Committee (CCS) was called on Wednesday evening under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, which gave detailed information about the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The attack killed 25 Indian citizens and a Nepali citizen, while several others were injured.
It was informed in the meeting that there are conspiracies from across the border behind this attack. The attack took place when elections were successfully concluded in the union territory and the region is moving towards economic development. Given the seriousness of the attack, the CCS decided to take several stringent steps and gave a clear message to Pakistan.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Vikram Egypt said that the Indus Water Treaty (1960) has been suspended with immediate effect. The treaty will be restored only when Pakistan stops supporting terrorism across the border. Apart from this, the attic integrated check post is being closed with immediate effect, people who have come to India by this route with legitimate documents can return before May 1.
Along with this, the Ministry of External Affairs said that Pakistani citizens will not be allowed to travel to India under the SAARC Visa Rebate Scheme (SVES). Any SVES visa issued earlier to Pakistani citizens will be considered canceled. All Pakistani citizens present in India under SVES visa will have to leave India within 48 hours.
At the same time, Defense, Navy and Air Force advisors of the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi have been declared ‘unwanted person’. They have to leave India within a week. Similarly, India will also call back its military advisors and five assistant employees located in Islamabad. The total number of employees of the two countries will be reduced from 55 to 30, which will be effective by 1 May.
Along with this, it was told that the CCS strongly condemned this terrorist attack and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families. Also wished for early health benefits of the injured. Many governments around the world condemned the attack and expressed support and solidarity towards India, which the CCS appreciated.
The CCS reviewed the country’s overall security situation and directed all the security forces to be vigilant. The committee reiterated that the culprits of this terrorist attack will be brought to the dock of justice and their patrons will also be held accountable. Just as India has recently succeeded in the extradition of Tahwavur Rana, similarly India will leave no stone unturned to catch every formula of terror.
