There is a plan to run the country’s first bullet train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Work is going on rapidly on this ambitious project. Amidst all this, do you know which is the most deserted railway station of the country? Which is the last railway station of India? Which is the railway station from where a foreign country can be seen from a short distance? Before independence, this railway station used to be very busy. Singhabad Railway Station has its own history. This railway station was very important during the freedom struggle. After independence, it went out of focus. Today the situation is that there is a station, staff, tracks, but there is no stoppage of trains. Singhabad Railway Station is located on the India-Bangladesh border. This station is in Habibpur area of Malda district of West Bengal. Despite having a connection with history, this station was not developed. It was left to its own devices. rich history
The history of Singhabad railway station is quite rich. Before independence, it was the main hub for going to East Bengal. This iconic railway station was built by the British. The look of the station is still the same, but now its importance has reduced a lot or say that it has no importance at all. Legendary freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi and Subhash Chandra Bose once passed through here. This was the most important means of communication between Kolkata and Dhaka, so the role of Singhabad railway station was very important in promoting culture and trade.
looks abroad
Singhabad railway station is very close to the Bangladesh border. Therefore, Bangladesh can be seen from here. In the partition of 1947, a part of East Bengal went to Pakistan. After this, in 1971, a new country named Bangladesh was born from East Pakistan. In the changed political situation, an agreement was signed between India and Bangladesh in 1978, under which goods trains were allowed to pass through Singhabad railway station. In 2011, its role was further increased. Now transit trains to Nepal also go and come from here. In such a situation, the strategic importance of this station has increased a lot.
