New Delhi : After increasing tension between Iran and Israel, India’s reaction has also come to the fore. The Indian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement appealing to both the countries to exercise restraint. We are deeply concerned by the growing hostility between Israel and Iran. This has posed a threat to peace and security in the area. We call for immediate de-escalation, restraint, and a return to the path of diplomacy.
The Foreign Ministry said in its statement that we are closely monitoring the situation. Our embassies in the region are in touch with the Indian community. It is important that security and stability is maintained in the region.
Let us tell you that Iran took an unexpected step and attacked Israel early on Sunday. Iran fired hundreds of drones, ballistic missiles and cruise missiles at Israel. This attack by Iran has pushed West Asia closer to a regional war. Israeli military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said Iran fired several drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles, most of which were destroyed outside Israel’s borders. He said the warplanes destroyed more than 10 cruise missiles outside Israeli airspace, but some of the missiles fell in Israel.
Iran had vowed revenge after two Iranian generals were killed in an April 1 airstrike on the Iranian Consulate in Syria. Iran had accused Israel of being behind this attack. However, Israel did not respond to this. It is the first time Iran has directly attacked Israel after decades of hostility that began after the country’s 1979 Islamic revolution. Countries like America, United Nations, France, Britain etc. have condemned Iran’s attack on Israel.
