New Delhi . Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that industries should develop ways to skill, train and provide employment opportunities to citizens with disabilities.
Union Minister Goyal said this during his address at the BML Munjal Awards 2024 in New Delhi.
Reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to skill the country and empower citizens with disabilities, he asked industry leaders to provide skill development in Braille.
Citing the example of SEEPZ in Mumbai, Goyal said, “There is a need to develop certain skills that help citizens with disabilities become independent, like SEEPZ, where 1,500 visually impaired children are being trained by the gems and jewelery sector for jobs in the same industry.” is done.”
The Union Minister suggested that industry leaders should identify the strengths of the disabled and make them employable.
He further said, “Complaint centers and customer support centers are areas where Divyangjan can work, they can even get work opportunities in sports. We are organizing sports festivals to further encourage Divyangjan. Can also promote.”
In the program, the Union Minister also mentioned a book titled ‘The Making of Hero’ based on the journey of Hero Group from its initial days till now. He highlighted the company’s efforts to take India to the world stage in automobile manufacturing.
Praising the organizers for releasing the book in Braille as well, he said, “This effort will inspire people with disabilities to dream big.”
Apart from this, Union Minister Goyal also expressed hope that the book will inspire many entrepreneurs to become employment creators.
He said that the collective commitment of 1.4 billion people will take India to new heights and this will happen only when they have big aspirations.
The Union Minister also urged the organizers of the event to include startups and youth organizations in the awards ceremony in the journey to developed India.
