Investigating officer in 800 cases, resolved 1500 disputes between husband and wife… Who is ASI Ranjana Sharma, who will get special service

Shimla. A day before Independence Day 2024, Himachal got big news from Delhi. Awards for gallantry and distinguished service were announced by the Union Home Ministry. ASI Ranjana Sharma working in Himachal Police was also selected for the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service. Ranjana Sharma, posted in CID in Shimla, not only brought glory to Himachal, but also made Himachal Police proud. Ranjana Sharma shared her experience in an exclusive conversation with News-18.

Ranjana Sharma is the first woman officer of the state to receive the President’s medal for distinguished service in the rank of Inspector. Ranjana said that she was recruited as a constable in 1996 at the age of 18 and has been in the police service for 27 years. Talking to AnyTV, she said that she has been the investigating officer in more than 800 cases so far. She has rescued 50 child laborers and also resolved more than 1500 cases of disputes between husband and wife. Along with this, she has brought many cases of NDPS and Excise Act to a conclusion and got the criminals punished.

Ranjana is currently on medical leave. She is resting at home due to a leg injury. Ranjana is originally from Rampur Bhadrash in Shimla. Ranjana said that she has resolved more than 1500 complaints related to husband-wife disputes in the women’s police station. Ranjana’s daughter Divyanshika says that she is proud of her mother’s achievement.

Apart from this, Bilaspur SP Sandeep Dhawal, Inspector Nag Dev and Sub Inspector Hem Prakash have been selected for the police for commendable service. Senior Platoon Commander Jai Kumar posted in Home Guard will also be awarded a medal for commendable work. In the Fire Brigade department, Station Fire Officer Mansa Ram, Rajendra Kumar and Sub Fire Officer Ashok Kumar have also been selected for medals for excellent services.
