The unlisted shares of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are in high demand in the market ahead of the 15th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which begins on March 26. Chennai Super Kings, captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, is the only IPL team whose shares are available for trading in the market. Last year the share price of Chennai was Rs 70-80. This time it has increased by about 150 percent to 205-210.
Chennai stocks have given returns of over 150 per cent in one year. The Chennai team was banned from playing in the 2016 and 2017 seasons. The team made a comeback in 2018. Then became the champion for the third time. At that time the share price of Chennai was Rs 12-15. Kotak Mahindra AMC had invited bids a few days ago to sell one lakh shares of Chennai Super Kings.
The upcoming IPL media rights auction is likely to increase the income of BCCI and IPL teams. Apart from this, due to the recovery of COVID-19, the spectators will return to the stadium. There will be an increase in revenue from ticket sales. Investor confidence in Chennai Super Kings has increased with the arrival of two new teams Lucknow Supergiants and Gujarat Titans in IPL at great cost.
The team under Dhoni’s captaincy has won the IPL title four times. This year IPL will be played from March 26 to May 29. A total of 70 league round matches will be held across four grounds in Mumbai and Pune. This will be followed by four playoff matches. There will be 20-20 matches at Wankhede Stadium and DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai. At the same time, 15 matches will be played at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai and 15 at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.
