Delhi Capitals captain Warner has given a befitting reply to critics like Sehwag after continuous criticism about the strike rate and the team’s victory. After the victory in the match against KKR, Warner said in the press conference, ‘There is also a thing called responsibility.’
David Warner said, ‘There is a lot of criticism that I am not scoring fast but when you lose three wickets in two overs and I have played only three balls at the crease. What would I do in such a situation? There is also a thing called responsibility. Should I also get out in the process of scoring fast runs or should I stand at the crease and take the innings forward.
He said, ‘In Bangalore, when I got out, I guarantee you that people criticized me for getting out but I just want to say that it is just a game and there are ups and downs in it.’
What did Virender Sehwag say
On Warner’s strike rate, Sehwag had said, ‘I think the time has come to tell Warner in English that he would feel bad. Warner if you are listening to me then please play well. Scored 50 runs in 25 balls. You look at Yashasvi Jaiswal, how many runs he is scoring in 25 balls. If you are not able to do this then do not come to play in IPL.
Former cricketer Rohan Gavaskar was also involved in this conversation with Virender Sehwag. Regarding Warner, he said, “If there was an uncapped Indian player in Warner’s place, it would probably prove to be his last IPL.”
