New Delhi. This year’s Indian Premier League has started. Out of 74 matches to be played between 10 teams, the schedule of only the first 21 matches was released. Its complete program was released on Monday 25th March i.e. the day of Hogi. The final of the Indian Premier League will be played in Chennai on 26th May while the second qualifier will also be played in Chennai on 24th May. BCCI has released the complete schedule of IPL after the announcement of the schedule for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Chennai has got the hosting rights of the final due to Chennai Super Kings being the previous winners. The previous champion gets a chance to host the first and last match. The 17th season of IPL started from March 22 but the schedule was released only for the first two weeks. Two other playoffs will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 21 and 22 May.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said in a release, “The rest of the schedule has been prepared keeping in mind the schedule of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. After the break on 20th May, the first qualifier will be played on 21st May and the eliminator on 22nd May at Narendra Modi Stadium, the world’s largest cricket stadium. The second qualifier and final will be held in Chennai, which is the home ground of defending champions Chennai Super Kings. The second qualifier will be held on May 24 and the final on May 26.
IPL final will be held at Chepauk. Voting for the Lok Sabha elections on 39 seats there will take place on April 19 only. Delhi Capitals, which will play its first two home matches in Visakhapatnam on March 31 and April 3, will play five matches in Delhi on April 20, 24, 27, May 7 and 14. Voting in Delhi is on 25th May.

If Chennai Super Kings reaches the finals in IPL then Mahendra Singh Dhoni can bid farewell to IPL in front of his home crowd. By handing over the captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad a day before the start of this season, he has indicated that this will be his last season.
Punjab Kings’ two matches will be played on May 5 and 9 against Chennai and RCB in Dharamshala. Rajasthan Royals will also play two matches in their second home Guwahati. She will play against Punjab Kings on 15th May and Kolkata Knight Riders on 19th May in Guwahati.
