Hardik Pandya Statement: Mumbai Indians, who played in the 17th season of IPL under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, have so far faced embarrassing defeats in both the initial matches. While the team had a close defeat in the match against Gujarat Titans, they had to face a big defeat of 31 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad. In this match, there was a fierce defeat by the bowlers of Mumbai Indians team, due to which Hyderabad team scored 277 runs at the loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs. However, while chasing the target, Mumbai Indians also managed to reach the score of 246 runs in 20 overs. After the shameful defeat in the match, Mumbai Indians team captain Hardik Pandya talked about further improvement in bowling.
We did not think that so many runs would be scored
Hardik Pandya said after the defeat in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad that the wicket was good, but we did not think that such a high score would be made. I am not saying that the batsmen of Sunrisers Hyderabad team did not bat well but more than 500 runs were scored in this match which clearly shows that this pitch was very good for batting. We could have tried some different things while bowling in this match, but we could not do so. We have a young bowling attack. We batted well while chasing the target. Some things definitely went wrong for us in this match, if we improve them before the upcoming matches then our performance will also be better.
Kwena Mafaka’s performance defended
In this match, Mumbai Indians had included only 17-year-old South African fast bowler Kwena Mafaka in their playing 11, however, Mafaka’s first match of his IPL career proved to be no less than a nightmare. Captain Hardik Pandya was seen defending Quena regarding his performance, in which he said that he is a great bowler and this was his first match. He is completely fine. You will see further improvement in his bowling in the coming matches. Let us tell you that in the history of IPL, the record of worst bowling in the debut match has now been registered in the name of Quena Mafaka. In this match, Quena has given 66 runs in his 4 overs.
