New Delhi. Hardik Pandya, who is captaining Mumbai Indians in this season of the Indian Premier League, has been fiercely targeted by the fans. The team management has given this responsibility to Rohit Sharma by removing him from the captaincy. The fans are unhappy because of this and were seen booing Hardik during the match. Experienced spinner R Ashwin defended Hardik Pandya, who was struggling with bad times, and had to incur the wrath of the spectators in Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.
Ashwin blamed the atmosphere of fan warfare and cinematic culture for the hostile behavior of the audience towards Pandya on social media and on the field. Pandya has become the captain of Mumbai Indians in place of Rohit Sharma this season. In response to a question on his YouTube channel, Ashwin said, ‘The fight between fans should be within the bounds of civility. People should not forget for which country these players play, for our country. Then what is the need to misbehave with the cricketer?
He said, “It is beyond my understanding.” If you don’t like a player and are criticizing him, then what is the need to give an explanation to the team? Pandya had to face the wrath of the audience in the first match against Gujarat Titans because he left the Gujarat team and became the captain of the Mumbai team. They went. Similarly, he had to face the same behavior in a neutral place like Hyderabad.
Ashwin said, “This is cricket and also cinematic culture.” I know there are things like marketing, positioning and branding. I agree with all of them. But I don’t believe in it but there is no harm in getting into it either.
