New Delhi. Young fast bowler Mayank Yadav, who created a sensation with his fast ball in the Indian Premier League, has been injured. This fast bowler of Lucknow Super Giants will not be able to play in the next IPL match against Delhi Capitals on April 12 at home due to abdominal muscle strain. The team captained by KL Rahul has registered three consecutive wins after losing the first match of the tournament.
Giving this information, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LSG said that he will remain under the supervision of doctors throughout the week. Mayank suffered the injury during LSG’s 33-run win over Gujarat Titans in Lucknow on Sunday night. “Mayank felt pain in the lower abdomen and as a precaution, we are managing his workload till next week,” LSG CEO Vinod Bisht said in a statement issued here. We hope to see him on the field soon.
Bisht’s statement means that Mayank may also miss LSG’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens this weekend (April 14). Lower abdominal injuries of fast bowlers take longer time to heal, so it remains to be seen when they return to the field.
Mayank came out to bowl the fourth over of the innings against Gujarat Titans but before leaving the field with the team physio, he was able to bowl at a speed of more than 140 km per hour only twice in his overs. He gave 13 runs in this over. Due to this injury, he remained sitting on the bench even during the Ranji Trophy season for Delhi.
Mayank had been struggling with ankle and hamstring injuries throughout his career. He made his IPL debut this season against Punjab Kings and impressed by bowling at a speed of 150 kmph. In his second IPL match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, this bowler took three wickets for 14 runs in which he bowled the fastest ball of this IPL at a speed of 156.7 km per hour.
