New Delhi. After Kolkata Knight Riders became IPL champions, there was talk about their excellent performance, but Ambati Rayudu included RCB in that too. He clearly said that the Orange Cap does not win the IPL. This is not the first time that Ambati Rayudu has targeted Virat Kohli and his team RCB. Two days ago, after RCB’s defeat, he had accused the management of giving priority to personal achievements over the team’s interest. RCB fans had trolled Rayudu after this.
Ambati Rayudu, who was commentating on TV channel Star Sports, linked the victory of Kolkata Knight Riders to the team. He said that players like Sunil Narine, Andre Russell and Mitchell Starc performed brilliantly for KKR, due to which the team became champion. Orange cap does not ensure victory. Instead, when more than one player scores 300-300 runs or 400-400 runs, then the team becomes champion.
Let us tell you that Virat Kohli has once again won the Orange Cap in IPL 2024. This is the second time he has won the Orange Cap in IPL. He is the first Indian batsman to win the Orange Cap twice. No other RCB batsman has been able to score even 500 runs. RCB batsmen have won the Orange Cap in four seasons but the team does not have a single trophy.
Ambati Rayudu has been a member of the team that won the IPL six times. He won the title three times for Mumbai and three times for Chennai. Apart from Rayudu, only Rohit Sharma has won the IPL title six times. He retired after IPL 2023.
Ambati Rayudu’s international career lasted for six years. He played 55 ODIs and 6 T20 International matches between 2013 and 2019. In 2018, Rayudu had almost secured a place in Team India by batting brilliantly at number-4. But he was dropped from the team just before the 2019 World Cup.
Angry at being dropped from the team, Rayudu announced his retirement from cricket. He also made harsh comments on the then chief selector MSK Prasad. Virat Kohli was the captain of the Indian team in the 2019 World Cup. This is the reason why when he criticizes Kohli, cricket fans associate it with the 2019 World Cup.
