New Delhi. Rishabh Pant, who was fighting a life-death battle just 15 months ago, has set the pace for his comeback in Team India. By playing a match-winning inning against Chennai Super Kings, he has shown that now he is ready to play for the national team. Rishabh Pant’s comeback is like the bird Phoenix rising from its ashes. A year ago, when there was talk of Rishabh Pant, everyone would have doubted whether he would be able to make a comeback. If you do, what level of cricket will you play? Will you be able to do wicketkeeping or not? But Pant was confident that he would play and now he is playing.
It is not right to link Rishabh Pant’s comeback only to Delhi Capitals or IPL. The way he batted against Chennai Super Kings must have definitely caught the attention of the selectors of Team India. Rishabh Pant showed composure at first in this innings. Rishabh Pant, who came to bat in the 10th over, had scored only 23 runs in 23 balls. But as the last over approached, he changed gears and started destroying the bowlers. Within no time Pant had completed his fifty. Pant was finally out after scoring 51 runs in 32 balls. That means he scored 28 runs on his last 9 balls.
IPL 2024: MS Dhoni left Kohli behind in a special record, now only Rohit among the Indian greats…
This innings of Rishabh Pant has given another option to the selectors of the national team. Before the car accident, Pant was a regular part of the Indian team. After Rishabh Pant got injured, other wicketkeepers started coming and going in the Indian team. Different wicketkeepers came into the team in different formats and some also dropped out. But some names like Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Jitesh Sharma are making strong claims for the T20 World Cup to be held in June. Now Rishabh Pant’s name has been added to this list. There is no doubt that if Pant shows good form, he will overpower any other wicketkeeper batsman.
Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson are the wicketkeeper batsmen who have scored the most runs in the matches played so far in IPL 2024. Both have scored 97-97 runs in the league so far, which includes one half-century each. Dinesh Karthik (86) and KL Rahul are also ahead among the Indian wicketkeeper batsmen who have scored more runs. Ishan Kishan, Jitesh Sharma, Dhruv Jurel have not been able to play any big innings so far.
