The IPL Governing Council in its meeting held on Thursday (24 February) has taken several decisions regarding the IPL 2022 season. During this it has been agreed that 70 league matches will be played on four grounds in Mumbai and Pune. IPL chairman Brijesh Patel had announced the dates of its tournament opening and final match on Thursday itself. On Friday (February 25), IPL has given information about the format and groups of teams used for the tournament.
To keep the players away from the airport, the 15th season will be played in Bio-bubble. The first match will be held on 26 March and the final match on 29 May. A total of 70 league matches will be played on four grounds in Mumbai and Pune. The decision for the playoff matches will be taken later.
The teams were divided into two groups on the basis of winning the title.
10 teams will play a total of 14-14 league matches. The league round will consist of 70 matches followed by four playoff matches. All teams will play two matches each against five teams. There will be a chance to play one match against the remaining four teams. For this the teams are divided into two groups. Its decision has been taken on the basis of winning the IPL title.

Mumbai Indians will get the benefit of home ground
All the teams will play four matches each at Wankhede Stadium and DY Stadium. Three matches each will be played at Brabourne Stadium and Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. Earlier, talking to the Times of India, a franchise had said that Mumbai will get the benefit of home ground if they play at the Wankhede Stadium. That’s why we will oppose it. Later, talking to InsideSport, a BCCI official had told that the Mumbai team will not play a single match at the Wankhede.
