IPL Rising Star: Many young players of India have impressed with their performances so far in IPL 2024. Especially this season, young fast bowlers performed brilliantly in many matches. Something similar was seen during the match played between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Where after a long wait, Karnataka’s emerging fast bowler Vidavath Kawerappa got a chance to debut in the IPL on Thursday, May 9 and he performed brilliantly on his debut match itself.
harassed Virat Kohli
Punjab Kings captain Sam Curran gave him a chance to play against RCB and called him to bowl with the new ball. Where he proved why he is rated so highly in domestic cricket. The 25-year-old player troubled Royal Challengers Bangalore’s most brilliant batsman this season, Virat Kohli, a lot in the opening over and Kohli also made a mistake on his ball.
Kohli tried to flick the ball outside his off stump towards the on side. After which the ball flew in the air towards the cover point area. But Ashutosh Sharma made a mistake on that ball and he could not catch Kohli. After this, Kawarappa and Punjab were disappointed, because Kohli then took full advantage of this opportunity and scored an inning of 92 runs for his team.
These two dangerous batsmen were out
Despite not getting the wicket of Virat Kohli, Kawerappa displayed champion mentality and did not let the initial shock overpower him. Kevarappa then laid a trap for Faf du Plessis and the RCB captain gave him his wicket. After this, he made his debut even more special when he dismissed RCB’s in-form batsman Will Jack. Although he proved to be a bit expensive in this match, but if Virat Kohli had got that wicket on that ball, the result of the match could have gone in favor of Punjab. He has proved with his performance that he can make a place in the playing 11 of Punjab in the remaining matches.
