Iran nuclear program (representative photo)
Dubai: Iran has not stopped its nuclear programs even after the death of its President Ibrahim Raisi, but has shown more speed in the work. A report by the United Nations nuclear watchdog (IAEA) has given sleepless nights to America and other countries of the world. The IAEA said on Friday that Iran has started installing advanced centrifuges after facing criticism over its nuclear program and plans to install more in the coming weeks. At the same time, America has described this step as a step that increases the nuclear threat.
The installation of the new centrifuges will further accelerate Iran’s nuclear programme, which has already enriched uranium to weapons-grade levels and has stored enough to make multiple nuclear warheads. However, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has acknowledged there is no indication that Iran plans to enrich further. The IAEA said its inspectors verified on Monday that Iran had begun loading uranium into three cascades of advanced IR-4 and IR-6 centrifuges at its Natanz enrichment facility.
Uranium being filled in Cascade
According to the news, Iran has also started filling uranium in the cascade. Let us tell you that the cascade is a group of centrifuges which accelerate the enrichment of uranium. Iran has enriched uranium in those cascades with two percent purity so far. Iran has enriched uranium up to 60 percent which is just a little less than the weapons production level of 90 percent. Iran plans to install 18 cascades of IR-2M centrifuges at Natanz and eight cascades of IR-6 centrifuges at the Fordo nuclear site. Meanwhile, US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said, “Iran plans to accelerate its nuclear program in such a way that it has no credible peaceful purpose. If Iran implements these plans, we will respond appropriately. (AP)
