World number one junior badminton Indian Tasnim Mir clinched the women’s singles title with a three-game win over Indonesia’s Yulia Yosefin Susanto in the final at the Iran Fajr International Challenge here on Friday.
The 16-year-old from Gujarat defeated second seed Susanto 21-11, 11-21, 21-7 in 51 minutes. Earlier, Tasneem had defeated Iran’s Nazneen Zamani, Armenia’s Lilit Poghosan, Iran’s Fatameh Babai, India’s Samaira Panwar. In the semi-finals, Tasnim defeated top seed and world number 71 Martina Repiska.
Tasneem, the first Indian female badminton player to become the world number one in Under-19 singles, has a senior world ranking of 404.
