America deployed fighter planes and warships in West Asia to help Israel.
Washington: Fear of Israel-Iran war In view of the increasing tension in West Asia, the US Defense Ministry has taken a big step. To support Israel, the US has decided to deploy a squadron of fighter planes and aircraft carriers across West Asia. The Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Defense Ministry, gave this information. The Pentagon said that US President Joe Biden has decided to increase military presence in West Asia to protect Israel from possible attacks by Iran and its allies and to ensure the safety of American soldiers. Under this, a squadron of American fighter planes and warships has started forming a circle around Israel to protect it.
The Pentagon said in a statement that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has also ordered the deployment of additional ballistic missile-equipped ships and destroyers in the European and West Asian regions. Apart from this, Austin is also taking steps to send additional ground-attack ballistic missiles there. The US has decided to increase its military presence in West Asia at a time when American leaders have expressed concern that the killing of top commanders of Hamas and Hezbollah in recent Israeli attacks could increase violence in the region, as both militant groups as well as Iran have threatened to retaliate.
Biden called Netanyahu
According to the White House, Biden called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday afternoon to discuss increasing the US military presence in the region to protect his country from potential ballistic missile and drone attacks. In April, US forces detected and thwarted dozens of missiles and drones fired by Iran towards Israel. The risk of the ongoing tension in the region turning into a war has increased after the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on Wednesday and Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukur in Beirut on Tuesday.
Iran has threatened to take revenge on Israel
Iran, furious over the killing of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh alias Haniyeh, has threatened Israel of giving a befitting reply to the attack on its territory. In such a situation, the US has assured Netanyahu of full support. Israel has vowed to kill the leaders of the group after the unexpected attack by Hamas on its territory on October 7 last year. Austin has decided to deploy the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier to West Asia. This ship will replace the USS Theodore Roosevelt in the Gulf of Oman. The Pentagon did not say where the squadron of fighter planes would come from and in which part of West Asia it would be deployed. (AP)
