With the use of words, political equations and political alliances are being made in Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, the formula for sharing of seats between SP and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) is being considered fixed. Now after RLD, Aam Aadmi Party can also tie up with Samajwadi Party. In this connection, there has been a meeting once again between SP President Akhilesh Yadav and Aam Aadmi Party’s UP in-charge and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh. Sanjay Singh’s statement on this meeting has also indicated that an alliance between AAP and SP may be seen in the coming days.
Benefit deal for both SP and AAP
The Samajwadi Party, which is making every effort to get power, can benefit from going with the Aam Aadmi Party. The aim of Aam Aadmi Party is to develop in UP under the Delhi model. In such a situation, SP can benefit from this model. Sanjay Singh has emphasized several times in his statement that the priority of AAP is to take the governance model of Delhi to the state of Uttar Pradesh. Providing good education, health infrastructure, free electricity and employment to the people of the state will be on the agenda of the party. At the same time, the Aam Aadmi Party, which is trying to find political ground in Uttar Pradesh, will not find a better launch pad than this, as the SP is the main opposition party in the state. Aam Aadmi Party has nothing to lose from this alliance, while it is a question of credibility for Akhilesh Yadav.
How will the political equations change?
While the Aam Aadmi Party has not been able to do anything special in UP, the SP is also battling for power. Now with these two coming together, the claim of the Samajwadi Party will be strong against the BJP. With this, Akhilesh will be seen as the strongest among the opposition parties, whose effect can be seen in national politics as well. At the same time, there will be an opportunity for the Aam Aadmi Party to reach out to every small village in the state.
The BJP had won over 300 out of 403 seats in the 2017 assembly elections, while the SP got only 47 seats, 177 less than in 2012. At that time, the Aam Aadmi Party did not have any special mass base in the state. Recently, the performance of Aam Aadmi Party in UP’s Zilla Panchayat elections was better. The party’s 83 district panchayat members, 300 pradhans and 232 BDC members registered victory in the state, which is crucial in view of the assembly elections. Its meaning is clear that the Aam Aadmi Party has registered its presence among the public in the state. If the SP and the Aam Aadmi Party come together in the upcoming elections, then there can be a big change in the election results.
This is a win-win deal for both the parties because here the Aam Aadmi Party does not have any traditional vote base, whereas the SP has its own core vote base. Like the BSP, the AAP going with the SP will not anger its voters. The way the Aam Aadmi Party is visiting Ayodhya and now it is free for the elders of Delhi to visit Ayodhya, Kejriwal will definitely get some success in creating a pro Hindu image.
Significantly, the core vote bank of SP is Yadav and Muslim whereas Aam Aadmi Party is not based on any one religion or caste. Therefore, the prospects of this party can create big problems for other parties especially BJP. You may be able to make a big dent in the BJP’s vote bank, which may affect the election results.
Please tell that this was the third meeting between Sanjay Singh and Akhilesh Yadav. Even before this, Akhilesh had met Sanjay Singh and on the birthday of Mulayam Singh Yadav, the two had met. On this meeting, Sanjay Singh said that everyone’s aim is only to defeat the BJP. This statement is giving further fuel to the speculations of the alliance. However, if there is an alliance between SP-AAP, what will be the seat-sharing formula between SP, Aam Aadmi Party and RLD, it is not yet decided.
