Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma
The Indian team is currently on a tour of America and West Indies to play the T20 World Cup. Where Team India is preparing for the Super 8 round after performing brilliantly in its group stage matches. Meanwhile, India opener Shubman Gill and fast bowler Avesh Khan have been released from the Indian team ahead of the start of the current T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 stage. Both the cricketers were part of the reserves traveling for the ICC tournament. As soon as the news of the return of both the players came out, rumors started that Gill was being sent back home only due to disciplinary issues. However, the rumors were dismissed by batting coach Vikram Rathore. After this, Gill gave a sharp response on his Instagram, which also included India captain Rohit Sharma.
Rumors spread about Gill
Earlier this week, Cricbuzz had reported that Gill and Avesh will not travel with the Indian team to the Caribbean for the Super Eight stage of the tournament as the team already has an extra opener in Yashasvi Jaiswal and will not need a pacer as the conditions are spin-friendly. After the match between India and Canada was washed out due to rain in Florida on Saturday, Rathore confirmed this and said that both will be with the team only till the end of the group stage.
A befitting reply from Shubman Gill
In the press conference, Rathore said that this was a plan from the beginning. When we come to America, four players will come together. After that two will be released and two will go with us to the West Indies. So, this plan was made from the beginning since the team was selected. This plan was made so we are just following it. Rathore’s statement comes amid rumors that Gill is being sent back to India due to discipline issues. Giving a befitting reply to the rumors, Gill posted an Instagram story of Indian captain Rohit and his daughter Samaira, in which he wrote the caption, “Sammy and I are learning the art of discipline from Rohit Sharma.” This post of Gill has made it clear that everything is going well between him and Rohit Sharma.
