New Delhi. A fierce conflict has been going on for the last five days after continuous attacks by the extremist organization Hamas on Israel. Meanwhile, a heated argument has started between the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding India’s relations with Palestine and Israel. On Wednesday, October 11, Assam Chief Minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed sharp criticism of the Congress Working Committee (CWC)’s stance on Palestine. “Congress’s statement matches that of Pakistan and Taliban,” Sarma stressed. Meanwhile, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor stressed the importance of standing with Palestine, saying, “India must stand with Palestine. We must not forget the issues related to Palestine.” He further acknowledged the political dimension adopted by the BJP.
Different views on Congress’s proposal
Himanta Biswa Sarma said on social media, “The Congress resolution echoes the statements of Pakistan and Taliban.” He further said, “Congress did not condemn Hamas. He did not condemn terrorist attacks on Israel. He did not say anything about the imprisonment of women and children. Sacrificing the interests of the nation for the sake of appeasement politics is included in the DNA of Congress.”
