Beirut: There is news of the death of a Hamas official in an Israeli drone attack. An Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon has reportedly killed a Hamas member and injured two others, according to reports. It is being told that the Israeli drone followed a car in Rashaya city, fired two missiles at it, due to which the car caught fire. The driver of the car, Sharhabeel Al-Sayed, died. Al-Sayed’s companion and another person were seriously injured in this Israeli attack.
‘The movement will continue until Palestine is liberated’
The al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas’ military wing, confirmed in a statement that al-Sayed was a member of the organization. While inspecting the site of the incident, Mahmoud Baraka, a Hamas official in the Bekaa region of eastern Lebanon, said in a separate statement that the movement would continue until Palestine becomes independent. Let us tell you that tension on the Lebanon-Israel border has increased since October 8, 2023, when the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah fired rockets towards Israel to show solidarity with the Hamas attack. After this, Israel retaliated by firing heavy artillery towards south-eastern Lebanon.
Israel denies allegations of genocide in Gaza
Meanwhile, Israel has denied allegations of genocide in Gaza, telling the UN’s top court that it is doing everything it can to protect civilians during its military operation in Gaza. The International Court of Justice completed its third round of hearings on emergency measures requested by South Africa. South Africa has said Israel’s military offensive in the southern city of Rafah threatens the survival of Palestinians in Gaza and urged the court to order a ceasefire.
