Kolkata, West Bengal Police on Friday said the video of state Congress chief Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury purportedly urging people to “vote for BJP” is fake. A police official said that a separate case has been registered at Jangipur police station in connection with this video clip. The officer said, “Our cyber team found that a part of the video was cropped and then the video was circulated. Perhaps this was done to gain some political advantage during the elections. We have filed a separate complaint at Jangipur police station.
He said that the police is trying to find out the source of the video. Meanwhile, the Congress condemned the incident and thanked the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer for quickly redressing the complaint and initiating a thorough investigation. The party had filed a complaint with the Election Commission on Monday after Chaudhary was seen allegedly asking for votes for the BJP in a video clip.
