It is important to maintain decorum while joking, being a celebrity is a big responsibility

New Delhi. It is important to celebrate victory, but we have to be careful not to do something in the heat of the moment that hurts anyone’s feelings. Every Indian is hurt by the way former Indian cricketers Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina, who have won the World Cup for India, celebrated after winning the World Championship of Legends League recently. These legends made fun of the disabled community in the joy of victory, which is in no way forgivable.

The amount of respect that sports and players get in India is probably not given in any other country. Achieving a special position in sports not only increases your status but also brings a great responsibility. Cricket is considered like a religion in India. Fans do not hesitate to give cricketers the status of God, but when you are compared to God, then you also have to develop a personality like Sachin Tendulkar. Why are we talking about this because Harbhajan, Yuvraj and Suresh Raina, who have earned the titles like Turbinator, Sixer King and Mr. IPL, have inadvertently hurt the hearts of their own fans.

It is important to follow the limits while joking
Whenever there is a match between India and Pakistan, be it the players or the fans, they cross all limits. Something similar happened when the Indian team won the trophy by defeating Pakistan in the final in the league of players who have retired from international cricket. Under the captaincy of Yuvraj Singh, India defeated Pakistan and won the title of World Championship of Legends. After this victory, Yuvraj, Harbhajan and Suresh Raina made a video jokingly and forgot all limits. While making the video, all three acted as if they were singing, which hurt every Indian along with the handicapped community.

Being a celebrity is a huge responsibility
It is understandable that the players of the Under 19 team cross their limits in celebration of victory but if the veterans who have retired after playing international cricket for decades forget their limits while celebrating, then it sets a wrong example. In normal life also, we take care of the feelings of the people around us who are physically inferior to us due to some reason. We take care that they are not hurt by any of our actions, in such a situation, the responsibility increases even more when you are a celebrity.

Sometimes an apology falls short
Harbhajan Singh, along with his teammates, has definitely apologised to the Divyang community for his video, but this is not enough to heal the pain that has been caused to them. The video that Harbhajan made with Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina has been deleted, but the joke made by him will remain in our minds. Para badminton player Mansi Joshi expressed her displeasure over this, then the video was removed and an apology was made. If only these star players had paid attention to this while making this video, then they would not have had to say anything later. Well, to apologise for a mistake, one needs a clean heart, which is found in these star cricketers serving the country. Learning from this, our young players will want to avoid such incidents in the future by having a sense of respect for everyone.
