Congress is neither in profit nor loss in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala. In these states, the number of members whose term ends, the number of members will return. In Tamil Nadu, if Chief Minister MK Stalin supports the Congress, then the party can get one seat in the alliance. At present, Congress does not have any seat from Tamil Nadu. In such a situation, if the Congress has to retain the status of Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, then the party will have to win the elections to be held later this year and next year.

In the year 2023, elections will be held for ten seats of Rajya Sabha. Of these, one is from Goa, three from Gujarat and six from West Bengal.
