Even on the second day of the violence in Jahangirpuri, his terror is present in the minds of the people. The fear is that all the shops located around Kushal Chowk are closed. In the days of Ramadan, the roads which used to be bright only after noon, there is a guard of police and security forces everywhere. Barricades have been put up everywhere. Local people have been confined to the streets by closing the gates of the colonies due to fear.
The traces of violence are still present in the form of broken glass of vehicles and burnt carts at some shops. The heavy presence of police force suggests that the situation is still not quite right. The local people who have lived like this for four decades are frightened even thinking about the situation of tomorrow. Rashid, who lives in Panchsau Wali Gali of G Block of Jahangirpuri, says that he was sitting in front of the house at around six o’clock in the evening. The street where he lives is all Hindu family. He told that we could understand something after hearing the noise, only then some people entered the streets with stone and swords.
His neighbor Pawan told that we somehow saved our life by running into the house. Rashid also showed the bricks he had collected outside his house that were thrown by the mob. He said that the way the crowd came, the whole street was scared. The miscreants also broke the glass of a car parked in the street. When the gate of the colony was closed, he said that we have closed it for security.
When I tried to talk to the boy standing inside the closed gate of Jahangirpur B block, the lane next to the religious place in C block from where the dispute started, he said that we do not want to talk. When asked to open the gate to come in, he was not ready for it. At the same time, after moving a little further, there was a crowd in the streets of street number 4. Street shops were open, but he seemed unhappy with the media crowd. When the policemen who came in plain uniform tried to talk to those youths, they said that we will be made bad. Why do we talk? He refused to tell anything to the policemen.
Police everywhere After the Jahangirpuri violence, the atmosphere there should not be spoiled again, so that the top police officers of the district are frozen there. Apart from SHO, ACP of many police stations, Deputy Commissioner of Police Usha Rangrani also stood there with her team of senior officers.
