Investigation against Jyoti Malhotra, a travel YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra in Hisar, Haryana, arrested on charges of espionage in India. According to the latest revelations, Jyoti had also made a video of Munabav railway station bordering Pakistan in Barmer district of Rajasthan, which is considered a strategically highly sensitive area. After this revelation, security agencies have become more alert and the scope of investigation is being extended continuously.
Video of Munabav station under investigation
According to sources, Jyoti Malhotra uploaded the video related to Munabav railway station on her YouTube channel a few months ago. The Thar Express between India and Pakistan has been running through this station and this area is very sensitive to the security point of view due to being very close to the border. The video is expected to include scenes related to the station, surrounding area and some military activities, which have raised serious objections by intelligence agencies.
Security agencies got new clues
Investigation agencies have found some important clue in the depth investigation of Jyoti’s digital devices and social media accounts. This includes the possibility of keeping in touch with Pakistan, suspected bank transactions and frequent visits to the border areas.
According to a senior intelligence official, “The investigation so far has revealed that the accused YouTuber visited the border areas several times and recording cameras in places where common citizens are not allowed to shoot.”
Question on permission to make video
The matter also raises questions on the security protocol. How a common man got permission to shoot a video in a sensitive area like Munabav has also become a matter of investigation. Railways and local administration are also being questioned in this regard.
Family cleaning
At the same time, the family of accused Jyoti Malhotra dismissed the allegations outright saying that “Jyoti is just a travel YouTuber and she never made a video with any wrong intention. She is being implicated.”
Punishment may increase
If the allegations of espionage against Jyoti are proved, then she can be booked under the National Security Act (NSA) and the Official Secrets Act, which can be punished from 10 years to life imprisonment.
Monitoring on YouTube channel
Security agencies are now investigating all the videos uploaded on the YouTube channel of Jyoti Malhotra. Especially those videos that are border, military or railway infrastructure.
This matter is once again creating concern that the security of the nation is playing in the name of social media and vologling. Security agencies are now stepping towards strict monitoring on the activities of such content creators.
