Prajwal Revanna and Suraj Revanna
JDS leader and Prajwal Revanna’s brother Sooraj Revanna has been granted conditional bail by the People’s Representative Court. MLC and JDS leader Dr. Sooraj Revanna was arrested in a case of alleged sexual assault of a man and was charged under sections 377, 342, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. A JDS worker had alleged that Sooraj Revanna sexually assaulted him and had unnatural sex with him in the name of getting him a job. Before Sooraj Revanna, a case of sexual assault was registered against Prajwal Revanna.
A case was filed against Prajwal Revanna after several pornographic videos of him surfaced. His father HD Revanna was also arrested in this case. He was later granted bail. After the case was filed, Prajwal went to Germany. When he was threatened with cancellation of his passport, he released a video and said that he would return and appeared before the investigating officers. A special team is investigating both the cases.
Sooraj was arrested on 22 June
Sooraj Revanna was arrested on June 22 on the complaint of a 27-year-old man. The complainant alleged that the MLC sexually assaulted her on June 16 at a farmhouse in Ghannikada in Hassan district. On June 23, the court sent Sooraj Revanna to CID custody for eight days, which was expiring on Monday. Due to this, the CID produced Sooraj Revanna before the court where the magistrate extended his custody for two more days.
Police had registered the case on June 25
Police registered a second sexual assault case against Sooraj Revanna on June 25. The complainant has alleged that she was sexually assaulted three years ago during the Covid-19 pandemic. Last week, Sooraj Revanna underwent a medical examination. His DNA samples were also taken and his virility test was also conducted. Sooraj Revanna’s elder brother and former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna is also facing rape and sexual assault charges.
