A major accident has happened in Jamtara district of Jharkhand. More than 16 people have drowned when the boat capsized in the Barakar river. The accident happened near Virgaon and Shyampur Ghat in Jamtara. Police-administration is conducting relief and rescue operations. The death toll may increase. There were more than two dozen people on the boat. All laborers are told. This accident happened on the Ghat of Barbindia-Shyampur-Virgaon river. According to the information received, around five o’clock in the evening, a boat full of passengers from Barbindia Ghat was coming towards Shyampur-Virgaon Ghat. Meanwhile, the boat capsized in the middle of the river due to the strong storm. 16 people are said to be missing in the accident. The administration has started relief and rescue operations.

According to the information received so far, there were 18 people in the boat, out of which 4 people were rescued. They have been admitted to the hospital. An NDRF team has been called to trace the rest of the people, who have reached the spot and assisting in the rescue work.
