NEET-UG paper leak scam
Ranchi: Jharkhand has become the center of paper leak gangs. Within the last two years, four major paper leak scams have come to light from Jharkhand. In the investigation of the NEET-UG paper leak scam of 2024, the involvement of more than two dozen people from Jharkhand is coming to the fore. Earlier this year, the papers of JSSC CGL and Bihar Teacher Recruitment Examination were also leaked from Jharkhand.
The paper was leaked from the exam centre located in Hazaribagh
In the NEET-UG case, the investigation conducted by Bihar EOU (Economic Offenses Wing) so far has found evidence that the paper was leaked from the exam center located in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. The serial code of the half-burnt remains of the question paper found in Patna has revealed that this question paper was sent to the exam center located at Oasis School on Mandi Road in Hazaribagh. The EOU team reached Hazaribagh and seized two steel trunks in which the question papers were sent here. The investigation has found evidence that these trunks were tampered with. Two different locks have been found in the trunk.
6 youths arrested from Deoghar
Earlier on Friday, the EOU team had arrested six youths from Deoghar in Jharkhand in the paper leak case. Evidence has also been found that the leaked papers were solved by ten medical PG students in Ranchi and then they were sent to the candidates. The arrested JE from Bihar named Sikandar Yadavendu, who is believed to be the mastermind of the paper leak gang, has a luxurious house in Bariatu Housing Colony in Ranchi. He has stayed in Ranchi for a long time and has done contracting in civil construction works in many departments including the medical college.
Four big scams in two years
- Earlier, the papers of the SSC-CGL (Combined Graduate Level) exam held on January 28 in Jharkhand were leaked. After a huge uproar over this, the police arrested seven people including Jharkhand Assembly’s Under Secretary Sajjad Imam alias Mo. Shamim, his two sons Shahnawaz Hasan and Shahzada Imam. Investigation revealed that the papers of this exam were sold for 27 to 30 lakh rupees. The police have filed a charge sheet in this case.
- In March this year, the paper of Bihar Public Service Commission’s teacher recruitment exam was leaked from Hazaribagh in Jharkhand. Here more than 300 candidates were made to stay in a guest house and were made to memorize the answers. This racket was exposed in a joint operation of Bihar’s Economic Offenses Unit (EOU), Bihar Police and Jharkhand Police. In this case, a total of 313 candidates along with a dozen people associated with the paper leak and solver gang were sent to jail.
- In July 2022, the exam conducted for the recruitment of 1289 junior engineers in Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) was also conducted. Half a dozen people were arrested in this case. Its investigation is still going on. (With IANS inputs)
