Palamu Construction of National Highway is going on fast in Palamu district of Jharkhand these days. Meanwhile, some criminals were forcibly demanding levy from contractors and laborers. After continuous complaints, the Palamu police took major action and arrested four criminals. Police have recovered two pistols (one domestic and one foreigner), 50 rounds of live bullets, four stolen bikes, four mobiles and Rs 22,000 in cash collected in extortion.
ASP Rakesh Singh of Palamu said that on Monday night, police received information that some criminals were planning to harm the workers and contractors engaged in highway construction.
After this information, a team was immediately formed under the leadership of Sadar DSP Manibhushan. The team raided Pokharaha, Sadar police station area and arrested four criminals.
The four criminals arrested include Shahzad Alam, Sahil Kumar, Rohit Kumar and Farhan Qureshi. These four have a criminal history.
According to the police, Farhan has gone to jail in the firing case in Chainpur. At the same time, Shahzad, Sahil and Rohit were involved in the firing in Singra, in which a scribe was shot. In that incident, firing was done by Shahzad.
Police say that all the accused are associated with the gang of notorious criminal Rahul Singh and were planning to intimidate the people engaged in the highway construction work and collect levy from them.
Police have said that crime will not be tolerated under any circumstances in the district and continuous action will be taken against such criminals.
