According to Tanveer Alam, his father resigned on June 8 (Saturday) and his resignation letter was sent to the Chief Minister’s Office on the same day. This letter reached the office of Chief Minister Champai Soren on Monday. Jharkhand Congress chief Rajesh Thakur has also confirmed this and said that Alamgir Alam has resigned from the post of CLP leader and cabinet minister. The 70-year-old leader is an MLA from Pakur assembly seat.
Action taken in money laundering case
Let us tell you that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Alamgir Alam on May 15 after questioning by the investigating agency officials in the money laundering case. This happened when the agency raided the apartment of Jahangir Alam, the domestic servant of Alamgir Alam’s personal secretary Sanjeev Lal, on May 6 and recovered cash worth more than Rs 37 crore. Both Alam and Lal were arrested after the raid.
The ED raids were carried out in connection with an ongoing money laundering probe against former Jharkhand Rural Development Department chief engineer Virendra K Ram, who was arrested last year in connection with alleged irregularities in the implementation of certain schemes in the department.
CM Champai Soren had taken charge of the department
A few days ago, Champai Soren took over four departments – parliamentary affairs, rural development, rural works and panchayati raj – that were with Alamgir Alam before his arrest. When the news of a mountain of notes found in the house of Jahangir Alam, the domestic servant of Alamgir Alam’s personal secretary Sanjeev Lal, came to light, everyone was shocked and it was much discussed.
