On Wednesday, the Income Tax Department had simultaneously raided 40 locations including residences, hotels, hardcoke kilns of coal businessmen Anil Goyal and Deepak Poddar in Dhanbad. The IT raid which started on Wednesday continued till Friday night. The officers had arrived in 50 vehicles. A team of 5-5 members in two to three vehicles had raided everywhere. Searches were conducted at Deepak Poddar’s Joraphatak residence, Govindpur Wedlok Hotel, Kalyani Udyog Hardcoke Kiln, Anil Goyal’s Maniatand residence, Hotel, Tetulia, Nirsa Hardcoke Kiln. Apart from this, investigation was also conducted in other hardcoke kilns including Rajganj, Tetulmari, Kapuria. Also, the IT team raided the residence of Suresh Chaudhary and Mannu Singh.
IT teams from all places completed the investigation on Friday night. According to sources, in the raid that lasted for three days, information about Rs 8 crore cash, jewelery worth Rs 15 to Rs 20 crore, 12 bank lockers and undisclosed investment worth Rs 300 crore was found.
Income Tax had found evidence of buying coal at a lower price and selling it at a higher price, on the basis of which raids were conducted. The Income Tax Department team has found evidence of tax evasion of about Rs 41.81 crore. The Income Tax Department team seized cash and jewellery. Many documents have also been seized. After seizing the documents, the IT team will examine them thoroughly. If the team suspects anything after investigation, it will call Anil Goyal and Deepak Poddar to its office and interrogate them.
