Jammu. Yasin Malik, the chief of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front JKLF, who was involved in all the terrorist incidents in Jammu and Kashmir and was sentenced to life imprisonment in the terror funding case, has embarked on a new maneuver fearing another punishment. He is seeking permission to appear in person and cross-examine witnesses in the abduction case of former Jammu and Kashmir CM and Union Home Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s younger daughter Rubia Saeed. Malik has adopted the blackmailing style and said that if this approval is not given, he will go on hunger strike indefinitely. At present, Yasin is convicted and lodged in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
Yasin Malik appeared in court through video conferencing from jail in Rubia Saeed case. He told that he himself has written a letter to the government to appear in person. He told the court that he himself wanted to cross-examine the witnesses in the case. Let us tell you that Rubia Saeed was kidnapped on 8 December 1989. Then there was VP Singh’s government at the center and Rubiya was also released on 13 December after the release of 5 JKLF terrorists. When Yasin Malik was arrested by the NIA in 2019 in the Terror Funding case, the case started against him in this case as well. CBI has made 10 people including Yasin accused in this case. Their names are Ali Mohammad Mir, Mohammad Zaman Mir, Iqbar Ahmed Gandru, Javed Ahmed Mir, Mohammad Rafiq Pehlu, Manzoor Ahmed Sofi, Wajahat Bashir, Mehrajuddin Sheikh and Shaukat Bakshi.
Of these, Ali Mohammad Mir, Zaman Mir and Iqbal Ahmed Gandru themselves confessed before the magistrate that they and Yasin Malik were involved in the kidnapping of Rubiya. Similar statement was given by four other accused in front of CBI also. The court had said in January 2021 on this that these statements can be used as evidence against Yasin and other accused. Only after this, now Yasin Malik has adopted a new trick. He could face a long jail term in this case as well.
