Weather Update Today: At present, there is severe heat in many states of the country. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning in many states due to rising temperatures across the country. IMD said that there is going to be severe heat in various areas of India and the temperature is likely to reach 44 to 47 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department has warned of high maximum temperatures affecting Gangetic West Bengal, North Odisha and East Jharkhand. IMD has predicted that these areas will witness severe heat conditions till May 3, the intensity of which is expected to reduce in the next three to four days. In southern Andhra Pradesh, isolated parts are expected to experience severe heat for the next two days, followed by heat wave conditions for additional two to three days.

The weather department has predicted that Telangana, interior Karnataka and coastal Andhra Pradesh may face heatwave conditions in isolated areas for the next four to five days. Kerala is likely to experience these conditions on May 3, Tamil Nadu on May 3. The heat wave is likely to affect the states of Konkan, Central Maharashtra and Gujarat from 3 to 6 May and Marathwada from 3 to 5 May. Coastal areas like coastal Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe are likely to face hot and humid weather in the next five days. Apart from this, hot nights are expected in Chhattisgarh on 2nd and 3rd May, Central Maharashtra and Marathwada from 3rd to 6th May.

There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in many parts of the Northeast including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Apart from this, some rain is also expected in Sikkim, Odisha and different parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.

Despite the scorching heat, Delhi has experienced respite for the last two days and the temperature remained under control due to strong winds, while snowfall in the mountains brought down the maximum temperature of the city significantly on Wednesday. Heat wave conditions prevailed in various districts of Bihar. As the weather continues, IMD has warned that severe heat conditions will continue, including in the state capital Patna. There is a possibility of severe heat in Kishanganj and Gaya also. Talking about the weather of Uttar Pradesh, the state is no exception to the scorching temperatures, which rise rapidly from morning to afternoon, making outdoor activities challenging. However, the Meteorological Department expects a change from May 4, with possible rain and cloudy sky till May 5 and 6, which will provide some relief from the heat.
