Srinagar. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday said that within four years the Union Territory will have surplus power and every household will get quality and reliable power supply.
Sinha said this during the inauguration of Power Grid sub-station at Mirbazar in Anantnag district.
“A new transmission line is coming up from Punjab, which will be connected to Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, after which there will be no power shortage in Jammu and Kashmir,” the LG said.
“From 1947 to 2020, J&K could generate only 3,450 MW of electricity and this figure will be achieved in the next four years,” he said.
He also said that the people of Kashmir should cooperate with the Power Development Department to install smart meters so that consumers can get uninterrupted quality and reliable electricity.
He also praised the Power Development Department for completing the work of the sub-station within a record time of six months and commissioning it on time.
