New Delhi, . The Left Organization and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) demonstrated their strength before the students’ union elections at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
Both organizations along with hundreds of supporters along with their four candidates took out a huge torch procession. During this time, there were fierce slogans from both sides, which made the campus atmosphere tense.
ABVP started a torch procession from Ganga Dhaba late at night. The saffron flags waving and the supporters roamed the campus on the slogans of Jai Shri Ram and Jai Bhavani on the beat of the dhol.
On the other hand, the Left Unity (AISA and DSF) took out a procession with four of their candidates from Sabarmati Dhaba. During this time, his supporters put the disputed slogan “The head of the head will die, he will die”.
There came a time when the processions of both organizations came face to face. Seeing the sloganeering and tension increasing, the JNU security personnel and the Delhi Police, who were present in plain, intervened and took the situation by taking the two groups on different routes.
At the same time, the Chief Election Commission of JNU has currently banned the election process, citing uproar and security concerns last Friday. However, both organizations are confident that elections will be held on the scheduled dates. According to him, the Presidential debate on 23 April and voting on 25 April will be held. With this belief, both sides are busy campaigning.
Both the left organization and ABVP are campaigning vigorously on the campus with their respective supporters. Both tried to show their strength through the torch procession. But the disputed slogans and stressful atmosphere have increased the concern of the administration.
