New Delhi. Tejaswini of India performed brilliantly in the women’s 25m pistol event and won the gold medal on the last day of the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) Junior World Cup. The competition was held in Suhal city of Germany. Thanks to this victory of Tejaswini, India finished first in the medal table, overtaking countries like China.
This is the first individual World Cup medal of 20 -year -old Tejaswini of Haryana. India won a total of 11 medals in this competition – 3 gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze. China also won 3 gold medals, but had only one additional bronze medal from India.
Tejaswini scored a total of 31 points in the final. Elina Nestiyarovich, who finished second, won silver and Hungary’s 23 -year -old Mirium Jaako won bronze medal.
This was Tejaswini’s memorable attempt, who started the day from 24th place on the grid, while the first day of qualification scored 282 out of 300. Today he scored a brilliant score of 293 in the second rapid-fire round, which made his total score 575. She was the only Indian to make it to the top 8 in the list of 50 players.
Riya Shirish Thata, who was at the forefront of the first day, scored 92 points in the last rapid-firm round and could not make it to the finals with just 4 points with a total of 569 points. While two -time junior European champion Mirium finished eighth.
When the 10-round rapid-fire shooting started in the final, Tejaswini made a good start by scoring four points in a row. Chinese player Jhao Taotao was also doing well with him, but in the fifth round, Tejaswini again scored four points, while Zhao could score only one point, which ended her match there. Even after this, Tejaswini won every challenge with great peace and accuracy and won.
Among other Indian players, Namya Kapoor scored 289 points and finished 18th. The current world champion Diwanshi scored 564 points and finished 24th, while Riya was ranked 15th.
India have topped four of the last five ISSF junior competitions, including the United Junior World Championships held in the United World Cup (Suhal) and Lima (Peru) of 2023.
