The politics of Jharkhand has also become interesting in the season of Lok Sabha elections 2024. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has announced that Kalpana Soren, wife of former jailed state CM Hemant Soren, will contest the by-election from Gandey assembly seat. Let us tell you that Hemant Soren was arrested by ED in the alleged land ghatola case. After this, speculations about Kalpana Soren becoming CM started surfacing. However, the party had appointed Champai Soren as the new CM of Jharkhand. Now after Kalpana contesting the by-election, a period of speculation has started once again.
Will Kalpana Soren become CM?
Since the recent political turmoil in Jharkhand, there has been talk of Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren becoming the Chief Minister. Current CM Champai Soren had also replied on this. He had said that JMM party will take a decision regarding the candidature of Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana from Gandey assembly seat. Champai had also said that if Kalpana contests the assembly elections and wins, then JMM will decide whether she will become the chief minister.
When will the elections be held?
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed had resigned from Gandey assembly seat located in Giridih district a few months ago, due to which this seat has become vacant. The by-election on Gandeya assembly seat will be held on May 20. At the same time, elections for 14 Lok Sabha seats in Jharkhand will be held in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh phases on 13 May, 20 May, 25 May and 1 June. At the same time, the election results will be released by the Election Commission on June 4.
