New Delhi. BJP has given Lok Sabha election ticket to actor Kangana Ranaut from Mandi seat of Himachal Pradesh. Kangana Ranaut has thanked BJP for this, but the question is whether Kangana will be able to win the Mandi parliamentary seat? The main reason for this question is that till now the Mandi parliamentary seat has mostly been held by Congress. The outgoing MP from here is also Congress state president Pratibha Singh. Here, the dominance of Pratibha Singh and her husband Virbhadra Singh (now late) has been visible.
Virbhadra Singh won the election from Mandi parliamentary seat thrice on Congress ticket. At the same time, Pratibha Singh has also been MP thrice. In the year 2009, the market environment was not in favor of Congress. Despite this, Virbhadra Singh won the election. Pratibha Singh was also successful in winning the by-election in 2021. This time Pratibha Singh has refused to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Mandi parliamentary seat. There is a lot of internal conflict in Himachal Congress. In such a situation, Kangana may get a chance to win in the market. However, contesting elections from Mandi seat is not a new thing for Kangana Ranaut’s family. In the year 1952, Kangana’s great grandfather Sarju Singh Ranaut was elected MLA from Bhambla seat of Mandi. Now Kangana Ranaut has been made the BJP candidate from here.
If we look at the current political situation of Mandi seat, BJP had captured 9 assembly seats here in the last assembly elections. There are 17 assembly seats in Mandi parliamentary constituency. Now after the conflict in Congress, the former MLA of Lahaul Spiti has joined BJP. All 9 assembly seats of Mandi district are with BJP. BJP also has 2 assembly seats in Kullu and Bharmour assembly seat. In such a situation, the situation does not seem odd for Kangana. Just to win the Lok Sabha elections, they need to bring the supporters of Virbhadra Singh and Pratibha Singh to their side.
