Rishikesh: Due to heavy rains in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, the Ganga river in Phoolchatti area of Lakshman Jhula police station area is in spate. According to reports, despite the huge spate in the Ganga river, some Kanwariyas were collecting Ganga water risking their lives. As soon as the police saw the Kanwariyas collecting water from the river, they were chased away from there. Let us tell you that the place from where the Kanwariyas were collecting Ganga water was very unsafe due to the spate in the Ganga river.
‘Kanwadiyas collect water from safe places’
As soon as the police received information that a crowd of Kanwariyas had gathered on the banks of the Ganga in the Phoolchatti area of the police station area, the police force reached the spot swiftly and asked the Kanwariyas to stay away from the Ganga river. Along with this, the police made announcements with drums in the entire area to make the common people and Kanwariyas aware of the rising waters in the Ganga river. In the announcement, police officials advised the people to stay away from the Ganga river, and the Kanwariyas were also told to collect water only from safe places like Har ki Pauri in Haridwar so that there is no loss of life or property in any way.
The Kanwadis thanked the police
Police officials said that in view of the flooding in the entire area, a campaign will be launched along the banks of the Ganga river and it will be ensured that no one goes to the banks of the Ganga so that they remain safe. The good thing was that the Kanwariyas who were chased away from the banks of the Ganga river thanked the police while talking to the media. They said that whatever the police is doing is for our safety only, we should collect water from safe places without risking our lives.
