Raichur. The Karnataka Police on Saturday sent a team to probe the situation in Andhra Pradesh’s Srisailam, where a violent clash broke out between pilgrims. According to the police, the Karnataka state government has decided to send a team of 14 policemen, 2 PSI, 2 ASI, 10 constables.
After returning to Karnataka on Sunday, the team will submit a detailed report on the violence and attack on March 30.
At least two people from Karnataka were injured in the violence that started as a clash between a pilgrim and a local shop owner in Srisailam.
Srisaila Varimath, a resident of Janmatti village in Bagalkot district, has been sent to Bengaluru for treatment after she sustained a serious head injury.
Gopal, the second injured person, was sent to his village in Karnataka in an ambulance.
Lakhs of pilgrims from Karnataka visit Srisailam during the Ugadi festival. They will return home after the religious fair to be held on Saturday.
According to pilgrims, the drinking water outlets set up by the temple authorities on the main road to Srisailam were closed on March 30, leading to water scarcity.
A delegation of pilgrims from the state met Kurnool district commissioner Koteshwar Rao and submitted a memorandum to him in the matter.
