Jagdalpur. On Friday, the court rejected the bail plea of three of the four accused BJP leaders who were in jail for creating a ruckus in the regional transport office 13 months ago. On the other hand, Ravi Kashyap, an accused from the Scheduled Tribes category, has got bail.
A petition was filed for the bail of the accused in the Scheduled Caste Scheduled Tribe Prevention of Atrocities Act Special Court. Rejecting the bail applications of Suresh Gupta, Manohar Dutt Tiwari and Raghu Sethia in the special court, Ravi Kashyap was granted bail on a surety of Rs 20,000. It is to be known that in January 2021, BJP leaders demonstrated in the office of Regional Transport Officer at Adawal. During the demonstration, there was an incident of obstructing the official work inside the office and inking the name plaque of the officer.
Police filed complaint
The police had lodged a complaint on the complaint of the then Regional Transport Officer. In this case, the police have made 10 other accused including those nominated against BJP Municipal Board President Suresh Gupta and Ravi Kashyap, Manohar Dutt Tiwari, Raghu Sethia and Subroto Vishwas. Acting under the Scheduled Caste Tribes Atrocities Prevention Act, the police arrested four of the five accused leaders and produced them in the court on February 27, from where the court has sent all four to jail on judicial remand. On Friday, a bail petition was filed on their behalf in the court.
Petition will be filed in High Court
