Rajya Sabha member Kapil Sibal on Friday said it was strange that a court had restrained the police from arresting former Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa while Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren were being treated like ordinary people. Earlier this month, the Karnataka High Court had restrained the police from arresting Yeddyurappa in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case.
“He is a former chief minister, not an ordinary person”
The court, while passing the order, had reportedly said that he is a former chief minister, not an ordinary person. The Delhi High Court on Friday put an interim stay on a trial court order granting bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case linked to an alleged excise scam. “The judge, while granting anticipatory bail to Yeddyurappa in the alleged sexual assault case, said he is not an ordinary person. H.D. Ravanna was granted bail in alleged kidnapping case. Arvind Kejriwal, Hemant Soren have been treated like ordinary persons. This is strange,” senior advocate and Supreme Court Bar Association president Sibal said in a post on X.
Arvind Kejriwal got a setback from the court
Arvind Kejriwal has received another setback from the court on Friday in the Delhi liquor scam case. The Delhi High Court has reserved its decision after a day-long hearing on Arvind Kejriwal’s bail case. Let us tell you that on Thursday, the Rouse Avenue Court had granted bail to Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal. However, on Friday, the ED filed a petition in the High Court against Kejriwal’s bail, after hearing which the court reserved its decision.
