New Delhi. The next hearing in the defamation case filed against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Delhi Government Minister Atishi will be held on May 16 in Rouse Avenue Court. The statement of the complainant was recorded in the court today i.e. on 4th May. Now the court has to decide whether summons should be issued to Kejriwal and Atishi on the complaint of the complainant or not. Let us tell you that Delhi BJP’s media head Praveen Shankar Kapoor had filed a criminal defamation complaint in the court against Kejriwal and Education Minister Atishi.
In the complaint, Praveen Shankar had alleged that both the Aam Aadmi Party leaders made false allegations against BJP that it was trying to buy AAP’s candidates. According to the complainant, this was done with the intention of tarnishing the reputation of BJP and its workers. Praveen Shankar had called these allegations made by the Aam Aadmi Party as false, fabricated and manipulated statements.

What was the complaint?
This complaint was made on the basis of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s tweet on January 27 and a press conference held by Atishi on April 2. Advocate Amit Tiwari, appearing in the court on behalf of Praveen Shankar, had said that Aam Aadmi Party leaders are saying that BJP is offering Rs 20-30 crore to bring their party leaders to its side. According to Tiwari, “Whenever the ED (Enforcement Directorate) goes to AAP leaders regarding the excise policy… these people start making baseless allegations and call themselves harassed.” He said that as soon as Atishi’s name came up in the matter related to excise policy, he also started making such allegations.

On January 27, Arvind Kejriwal had said in a tweet that BJP has contacted 7 of his MLAs and is trying to topple his government. Let us tell you that at present Arvind Kejriwal is in judicial custody in a money laundering case related to excise policy. Atishi also held a press conference on April 2 in which he said that he had received an offer from BJP. She had said that if she does not do this then she will also be arrested by the ED within a month.
