A foreign woman has been arrested from the international airport of Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu. A Kenyan woman has been caught smuggling drugs. Customs department officials have interrogated him. The woman swallowed 90 capsules of cocaine, whose value is estimated at Rs 14.2 crore. Officials revealed on Tuesday that the woman had reached Chennai from Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa on December 7. Intelligence information was received about the woman that she was smuggling drugs into India. After which he was stopped for questioning by Air Intelligence Unit officials. The woman was searched extensively, but nothing was found in her clothes and bag.
After this the department did X-ray of his body. In which some cylindrical shaped objects were found in the woman’s stomach. The officers interrogated him strictly. The woman admitted that she had swallowed 90 capsules of cocaine. After this the customs officials seized the cocaine. The weight of the capsule was found to be approximately 1.4 kg. The woman has been handed over to police custody. A similar case has already come to light at Chennai Airport also.
A cabin crew member was arrested for gold smuggling at Chennai airport. The accused had helped a passenger in smuggling 1.7 kg of gold. Both the accused were arrested as soon as they reached Chennai from Dubai flight. According to customs officials, the accused passenger gave the gold to the cabin crew member in the flight. Whose information was given to the Customs Department.
Ganja seized in Ahmedabad
The cabin crew member had hidden the gold in his undergarments. Gold was found during the search. Now both have been sent to jail. In the last week of October this year, ganja was also recovered from Ahmedabad Airport. Ganja was brought by 7 people from Thailand, whose estimated value is Rs 2.11 crore. The smugglers were arrested by a joint team of the airport and CISF. After which the accused were handed over to the police.
