The Kerala High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition seeking removal of PM Narendra Modi’s picture from the COVID-19 vaccination certificate. Not only this, while dismissing the petition, the court also imposed a fine of one lakh rupees on the petitioner. The petitioner told the High Court that having a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the vaccination certificate was a violation of fundamental rights. Dismissing the petition, the Kerala High Court held that the petitioner’s appeal was “futile”, “politically motivated” and an unnecessary PIL.
Let us tell you that while delivering its verdict, the court directed the petitioner MayaliParampil to pay the fine to the Kerala State Legal Services Authority within six weeks. The court said that in case of non-payment of the fine within the stipulated period, KLSA would initiate revenue recovery proceedings against the applicant and recover the amount from his property.
Further the court said that the penalty is being imposed to inform the people and the society that such redundant arguments which waste judicial time will not be considered by the court. The court also said that the petitioner did not expect that any citizen of the country would answer the questions raised on the photograph of the Prime Minister and the message on the vaccination certificate.

Earlier, the Kerala High Court had questioned the credibility of the petition. Hearing the petition, Justice PV Kunhikrishnan told the petitioner that he (Modi) is our Prime Minister and does not belong to any other country. He came to power with a mandate. You cannot challenge it just because you have political differences. Why are we ashamed of our PM? If 10 crore people have no problem with this then why you? You waste judicial time.
