A heartbreaking incident has come to light in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Here a 19 -year -old girl was kidnapped and gang -raped by 23 people for about a week. Police said that six accused have been taken into custody and the search for the rest is on. The girl alleged that she was raped at different places between March 29 and April 4. On March 29, a resident of Lalpur area of North Varanasi left the house to meet a friend. She used to go out often earlier, but this time she did not return home. After this, the family lodged a missing report of the girl.
The girl was released after seven days
The kidnappers allegedly left the girl at the Pandeypur intersection after feeding the girl intoxicated. She somehow reached a friend’s house nearby and was later taken home. He later told his father about the incident, who later lodged a police complaint. According to reports, the girl was raped by several people at hookah bars, hotels, lodges and guest houses. NDTV has a copy of the complaint, stating that 22 people raped her.
12 people identified, 11 accused unknown
According to the information, 12 out of 23 accused in the case are known and 11 people are unknown. The girl’s mother has filed a complaint in this case. The girl has told the police that she was raped by feeding drugs at different places.
Initially sexual harassment complaint
A case has been registered by the police and the accused are being questioned. Some of the arrested people are from Hukulganj and Lallapura areas and were detained the same night. Senior local police officer Chandrakant Meena said that neither the victim nor her family had lodged a complaint of sexual harassment in the beginning. “The rape complaint was filed on 6 April,” he told reporters.
